Amy Peck is an alto saxophone player and educator from Uxbridge,
Ontario, Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Jazz
Performance, from York University, a Bachelor of Education from the
University of Toronto, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Jazz
Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
With an intense love of music, Amy has pursued both jazz and
classical performance opportunities. She was fortunate to play at the
World Saxophone Congress in Pesaro, Italy, and has been thrilled to
share the stage with such world class musicians as Terell Stafford, Maria
Schneider, Jon Faddis, Mike Murley, Don Thompson, and Barry Elmes.
As an educator, she has taught with the Durham District School
Board since 1999. In 2004, she was hired at Donald A. Wilson S.S. in
Whitby, to create a music program at a brand new facility. There, she
developed a series of jazz improvisation and repertoire classes with jazz
ensembles performing at many notable festival and concert venues
including The Banff Centre for the Performing Arts, The Manhattan
School of Music, The New England Conservatory, and The Hard Rock
Cafe in Montreal.
Amy was awarded the Jazz Educator’s Award for her commitment to
Jazz Education in Ontario. She is currently on a leave of absence from
her teaching position to complete her graduate degree.
